Litoměřice - Litoměřice will build a multifunctional hall at the Zahrada Čech exhibition area, provided that they receive a state subsidy. The project includes the demolition of two inadequate metal pavilions, the construction of the hall, planting greenery, and landscaping the surroundings. Costs are approximately 56.6 million crowns excluding VAT. Today, city hall spokesperson Eva Břeňová informed ČTK about this.
Litoměřice will apply for financial assistance from the Ministry of Education. The city's contribution is expected to be 50 percent. The ownership of the hall should belong to the city, which is also the owner of the land in the area. "The city needs a multifunctional hall with appropriate social facilities. It would be used not only for exhibitions but also for various sports throughout the year," stated Mayor Ladislav Chlupáč (ODS). The construction is desired by the public and several opposition councilors; the council must approve the project.
The city hall conditionally supports the construction on obtaining the subsidy and on a plan for covering operational costs. Its establishment would be welcomed by the Zahrada Čech company, in which the city of Litoměřice and the company EXPO CZ hold a fifty percent stake. "Thanks to the new hall, we will have the opportunity to expand our events or make the sales locations more attractive for exhibitors," said Zahrada Čech spokesperson Michaela Mokrá to ČTK. "The construction work would, of course, limit the course of exhibitions, however, everything is planned so that it affects exhibitors and visitors as little as possible," she added.
Zahrada Čech operates an area of 12,000 m². Recently, it has been trying to expand its visitor base to include families with children, for whom a new playground is available. "This year, we have come up with several new events targeting this specific group. These include Strawberry Festivals and the Relax Festival," said Mokrá.
The company finished the year before last with revenues of 21.3 million crowns and a loss of 100,000 crowns. According to the spokesperson, the final closure for last year is not yet complete, but the result will be profitable.
