Zlín - The Luhačovice Spa is preparing a large-scale renovation of cultural monuments - Villa Růžová and Villa Lipová. The renovation of both buildings is one of the first steps towards the revitalization of the entire spa complex, which is related to Luhačovice's nomination for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The repairs will require several million crowns. Jiří Dědek, head of the marketing and sales department of the Luhačovice Spa, told ČTK.

The spa complex is significant primarily because it contains a number of architecturally valuable spa buildings, mostly from the first third of the last century, within a relatively small area, including 16 national cultural monuments. The Czech Republic justifies the nomination by pointing to the extraordinary value of Luhačovice as an illustration of the phenomenon of therapeutic spa treatment at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and a reflection of contemporary views on the construction of "cities in greenery."
The spa management expects that workers will begin repairing Villa Růžová in April, with all work, including interior modifications, expected to be completed by September. The building will provide 24 higher-category apartment-type beds primarily for families with children. The spa received a grant from the Ministry of Culture for the renovation.
Villa Lipová is most likely to undergo restoration. A spa museum could be built on its site. Previously, a branch of the regional Museum of Southeast Moravia was located in Lipová. However, over time, the premises became inadequate.
