Prague

Despite the fact that the Landscape Festival Prague 2018 has already ended, many of its installations still remain and enliven some of the Prague Wildernesses in which it took place. Thanks to the friendly approach of the employees of the City of Prague and the municipal district of Prague 3, who embraced these interventions as their own, residents of Prague can still encounter and utilize them.

The still accessible installation of LFP has received a nomination for the Mies van der Rohe Award
The most of the originally temporary interventions remained on Vítkov Hill and Lower Žižkov, with 15 out of the original 29 still in place. People can still enjoy, for example, the Lenka’s Bench (Lenka Klodová), the Observation Point (Lukáš Ehl, Tomáš Koumar), Czechoslovak Pixel (David Karásek et al.), or climb to the Protest Step designed by the Slovak atelier 2021, which was this week nominated for the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award for contemporary architecture, awarded every two years for the highest quality realizations from across Europe.
On the cycling path under Vítkov, there is still available, for example, the Pumptrack (Jiří Ullwer, Sabina Loudová), while pedestrians can still shorten their way to Florenc thanks to the staircase at the Ponec Theatre called Highline Žižkov by the Archwerk atelier. It was selected for the Timber Construction Salon 2019. Earlier this month, a group of students organized a cleanup of the staircase and adjacent path as part of the Grab the trash event, which is proof that the festival manages to stimulate citizens’ interest in public space and its cultivation. Other remaining installations include, for example, The Staircase and The Gate on Rohanský Island, designed by the H3T studio.

Landscape Festival in 2019
Next year’s festival will be held in collaboration with the Statutory City of Ostrava. Residents and visitors of Ostrava can look forward to an international landscape conference or interventions by foreign stars such as Rintala Eggertsson (FI), NL Architects (NL) or zerozero (SK).
