Prague - The third year of the Landscape Festival Prague was launched today at two locations, which aims to present public space and landscape through photography, design, and contemporary visual art. In the premises of the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery in Prague, the festival featured the opening of the exhibitions Shared Cities and The Story of the Competition for the Peter Parléř Award 2002-2014. An opening was also held at the Žižkov Freight Station, where visitors can look forward to exhibitions dedicated to public space and landscape design, as well as installations on railway cars. Klára Pučerová informed the media today on behalf of the organizers. The Landscape Festival Prague runs until September 27. Just like last year, the admission is free. According to the organizers, interested parties will see exhibitions related to landscape architecture as well as changes in European public space. The Shared Cities exhibition at the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery showcases the 25 best entries submitted for the European Urban Public Space Award, announced by the Centre for Contemporary Culture in Barcelona in collaboration with various European institutions dealing with architecture. The exhibition features, among other things, the winning projects of the Intertwined Valley from Elx, Spain, and the renovation of the Vieux-Port harbor in Marseille. The second exhibition in the Prague gallery presents the competition for the Peter Parléř Award, which serves representatives of towns and municipalities looking for suitable solutions for public space or construction in public administration and are interested in collaborating with independent architects. During its duration, 74 cities have participated in the competition, some repeatedly, and 114 competition briefs have been created. "The competition maps the revival of interest in urbanism and rehabilitates its previously tarnished reputation, interest in urbanism as a legitimate part of societal consciousness and public discourse," said Jan Sedlák, the founder of the competition, architect, and urban planner.
