Kyjov - The town hall in Kyjov in the Hodonín region is considering building cooperative apartments in the area of the former dairy and brewery. More information about the utilization of the area will be revealed by an architectural competition, the results of which the city will receive in September. This was stated by the mayor of Kyjov, František Lukl (Seven Independent). The brewery is now empty and the dairy operates as a storage facility for materials for road repairs. Kyjov does not have cooperative apartments.

Lukl considers cooperative apartments to be a significant motivation for the future. "We are looking for suitable locations. We have several investors with whom we want to embark on this. It could be either in the form of cooperation, or the city will build the apartments alone. One of the locations is exactly the former dairy and brewery," said Lukl.

According to him, the town hall expects proposals from the competition that will then be evaluated in discussion with the residents. "The new political representation could then decide at the beginning of next year. The applicants in the competition are limited by the zoning plan and the needs for both housing and small business activities, as well as some relaxation zone," noted Lukl.

He mentioned that the brewery will likely not be incorporated into the new use, and it may need to be demolished. "The brewery is abandoned. The dairy mainly contains materials for road repairs," added the mayor. According to him, Kyjov has a minimum of rental apartments, mostly they are social or related to assisted living homes.

The advantage of cooperative housing is that it is not built for profit, and people pay their share through rent. "Young citizens of Kyjov who want to become independent are calling for this, and the prices of new apartments are unaffordable for them. We want to meet their needs," Lukl added.
