Kroměříž - The Kroměříž Town Hall will start in January with the renovation of the historic building of the Old Brewery, which is adjacent to the town hall. The approved city budget estimated costs at 20.25 million crowns, but during the selection process, the amount was successfully reduced to 19 million. This was stated today by Mayor Jaroslav Němec (ANO). The work on the reconstruction of the building, which hosts various cultural and social events, will last until summer.
According to Němec, the repairs of the Old Brewery will begin right after the New Year. Thanks to them, the building will become barrier-free. "It is a historic building, it deserves its renovation. It has been designed sensitively, all parts of the building should be repaired," Němec said. The repairs will take about half a year, and during the work, the house will be closed to the public.
New water, sewage, heating, electricity, and air conditioning systems will be installed in the building. A new elevator, staircase, and window replacement are planned. The main hall, dressing rooms, restrooms, and club room will be renovated. There are also plans for layout changes to create an annex, an office, and a rehearsal room with a kitchenette. "The historical entrance will also change. Citizens will enter the Old Brewery directly from Prusinovský Street," said Němec.
The heritage-protected building of the Old Brewery was built at the end of the 16th century by the owners of Kroměříž's tavern houses, who established the brewery in close proximity to the town hall. Beer is no longer brewed in the building; it serves cultural events. The town hall had already renovated the basement of the building in 2014 for eight million crowns, creating the Karel Kryl Exhibition, dedicated to the Kroměříž native.
