Kroměříž - Kroměříž is preparing to renovate the historic building of the Old Brewery Club. The work is expected to start this December and finish in June next year. The estimated costs range between 18 to 20 million crowns excluding VAT. The town hall already repaired the basement of the building for eight million crowns in 2014, where the Karel Kryl Exhibition was created. Now, preparations are underway for the reconstruction of the above-ground floors, said the spokesperson of the Kroměříž town hall, Jan Vondrášek, today to ČTK. "The building of the Old Brewery, which serves as a base for the Kroměříž theater group and a venue for other cultural and social events, is in poor condition and its reconstruction is necessary. It will also include a new lift for disabled citizens, making the building barrier-free. I would also mention new changing rooms and social facilities for visitors," said Mayor Jaroslav Němec (independent for ANO). During the works, the Old Brewery will remain closed except for the Karel Kryl Exhibition.
New water, sewage, heating, electricity, and air conditioning systems will be installed in the building, along with a new lift. The heating sources of the existing boiler room will be strengthened. A new entrance to the building will be created from Prusinovská Street with a ramp for wheelchair users. Repairs will also include the hall on the first floor, but its capacity will not change.
The builders will create changing rooms and new social facilities for visitors on the second floor. Additionally, a storage room and facilities for refreshments will be established, and the entrance for actors from the dressing room to the stage will be reconstructed. New changing rooms for actors with social facilities will be created on the third floor, and the clubroom will also be renovated. There are plans for spatial changes to create an anteroom, an office, and a rehearsal room with a kitchenette and restroom. A gallery and a booth for sound and lighting technicians will also be established. An air conditioning system for ventilating the main hall will be located in the attic, and the roof flooring will be insulated.
The Kroměříž theater group, which continues the tradition of amateur theater in the city dating back to 1863, will use other spaces during the renovation of the building. "We will manage the restrictions. We are really looking forward to the renovated Old Brewery. The space will finally advance to the 21st century. Social facilities, insulation, and air conditioning will be resolved, enhancing comfort for the audience," said the head of the group and Kroměříž councilor Jiří Kašík (ZVUK 12).
The monument-protected building of the Old Brewery Club was built in the late 16th century by the owners of the Kroměříž taverns, who constructed a brewery in close proximity to the town hall. However, beer has not been brewed in the building for a long time; the house serves cultural events.
