Krnov - The Krnov town hall has commissioned a concept for a planned indoor swimming pool. It should be built next to the current swimming area. The proposal will also be commented on by the public and experts. According to the city's plans, the construction should be completed by 2024. The facility is expected to replace the aging municipal baths for a maximum amount of 300 million crowns. This was reported by the city's spokeswoman Dita Círová.

The concept aims to determine what facilities the pool will have. Whether it will have one or two slides, how large the stands will be, or how many saunas will be built. The city has contacted an expert in pools, water parks, wellness, and sports-relaxation facilities, who will develop the operational concept of the future pool complex for the town hall.

"In addition to the requirements for relaxation and entertainment, we also strive to meet the demands of sports teams, primarily the swimming club. We have preliminarily agreed on a 25-meter swimming pool with eight lanes, a smaller pool for teaching and relaxation, a children's wading pool, a sauna world with indoor and outdoor sections, one or two slides, a relaxation zone, spaces for massages or fitness. We are considering a flow pool and other elements," said Krnov Mayor Tomáš Hradil.

According to him, the public will also have the opportunity to comment on the concept. "We will present the proposal for discussion to citizens, expert committees, sports clubs, and councilors. Once we incorporate their comments, we will approach architects. We should know what the pool will look like by spring next year," he said.

The city council decided on the construction of the indoor pool in the autumn of 2017. They also established that the maximum investment cost should not exceed 300 million crowns. Since then, experts have conducted, among other things, a hydrogeological survey on-site, which confirmed that the high groundwater level will complicate the construction somewhat.

City officials initially considered the option of renovating the existing pool and municipal baths, but ultimately decided on building a pool from scratch. The main reason was its connection to the summer swimming area.
