Krnov - The leadership of Krnov in the Bruntál region plans to announce an architectural competition for the design of a swimming pool during the next year. The construction, costing 300 million crowns, is expected to start within five years and be completed by 2027. Dita Círová, the city's spokesperson, said this today. She added that the city has already completed a study for the pool, which is to be built next to the current aquapark.
The aquapark is expected to feature a 25-meter swimming pool with eight lanes, a covered relaxation pool, a wading pool for children, an outdoor splash pool, two water slides, and a sauna world with both indoor and outdoor areas. The space should also accommodate fitness activities, refreshments, and additional services such as massages.
"The final architectural solution will be the result of the architectural competition, which should be announced next year. From this, we will not only get the architecture and all operational links, but we will also learn more about the amount of investment for the first time. Based on the architectural study, the project documentation will then be commissioned," said city architect Lubomír Dehner.
The city council decided to build a covered pool in the fall of 2017. They also determined that the maximum investment cost should not exceed 300 million crowns. Since then, experts have conducted a hydrogeological survey on the site, which confirmed that the high groundwater level will partially complicate construction.
Initially, city representatives considered renovating the existing pool and municipal baths, but ultimately decided to build the pool "from scratch." The primary reason was its connection to the summer swimming area.
