Prague - The owner of the Sparta football club, Daniel Křetínský, plans to renovate the stadium at Letná. According to documentation submitted by Křetínský's ACS Properties for the environmental impact assessment, he wants to reduce the stadium's capacity by demolishing part of the stands. He also plans to build office buildings and a shopping center right next to it. This is reported by the daily E15. The stadium's capacity is to be reduced by 1,165 seats to 18,251 spectators. Another change awaits the training pitch next to the stadium. The area will disappear and a seven-story multifunctional center with an office building will rise in its place, E15 reports. The multipurpose center will include, among other things, shops, a fitness center, or a multiplex cinema, and there will also be service apartments for Sparta employees. Service residences will also be created in the neighboring administrative building. There are plans for offices and club facilities there as well. The construction, which is expected to take more than two years, will be divided by the investor into four phases. Křetínský expects the renovation to begin in the spring of 2016, with completion scheduled for the fall of 2018.
