Brno - The South Moravian Region will spend 65 million crowns to renovate the Art Nouveau Löw-Beer Villa in Brno. Today, it started the procurement process for its reconstruction. The building is located next to the famous Tugendhat Villa, the gardens of both houses will be connected and will form a single unit, said the governor of the South Moravian Region, Michal Hašek, to reporters today. The renovation is expected to begin next year. In the Art Nouveau building, there used to be a youth home, but the South Moravian Region announced earlier that it would like to have an exhibition about the Art Nouveau style, the textile industry in Brno, and the family of the original owners. "The South Moravian Region has prepared the renovation of this villa along with the adjustment of the garden of the Tugendhat Villa. We want both gardens to form a whole. The restoration should build on what has already been achieved in Brno with the reconstruction of the Tugendhat Villa," said Governor Hašek. The region will receive assistance for financing from a regional operational program. Of the total amount, 59.2 million crowns will go to the renovation of the interiors and 5.8 million crowns to the restoration of the garden. The neighboring Tugendhat Villa reopened after renovation at the beginning of March this year. The Löw-Beer Villa was built in the Art Nouveau style by the Brno textile industrialist Moritz Fuhrmann between 1903 and 1904. His sons sold the house in 1913 to the factory owner Alfred Löw-Beer. Both buildings once formed a loosely connected whole. Greta Tugendhat's parents lived in the Löw-Beer Villa, who provided her with the upper part of the garden overlooking Brno when building a new house for her family. At that time, the gardens of both villas were not separated by a fence, as is the case today.
