The reSITE conference will bring further debates on urban development

Prague - The reSITE meeting starts today in Prague, where architects, urban planners, and politicians gather to discuss the future of cities. Over the course of two days, around fifty speakers from many countries will present on topics such as the reconstruction of monuments, new constructions, the use of abandoned urban areas, integrating nature into the city, efforts for better energy management, and other issues primarily faced by large cities.

The conference is held at the Karlín Forum and will feature, for example, British architect Thomas Heatherwick, the creator of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art in Cape Town, one of last year's most discussed buildings. One of his upcoming projects is reportedly related to Prague.

Also attending is Josuke Hajano, a main partner at MAD Architects and a creator who connects architecture with nature. Anni Sinnemäki, the Deputy Mayor of Helsinki, will show how she plans to transform her city into a carbon-neutral one by 2035. Matúš Vallo will also speak, who recently exchanged his position as a practicing architect for the role of Mayor of Bratislava.

"As urban populations grow, so do the challenges that cities face, from building modern and resilient infrastructure to creating affordable housing to preventing the looming climate crisis," says reSITE's director Martin Barry. reSITE focuses on positive inspiration and connecting professionals across fields with functioning ideas that have the potential to change the urbanized world for the better, its organizers state.
