The reconstruction of the station like in České Budějovice is too pompous for Kolín.
Kolín - Kolín is planning a major reconstruction of the bus station, which, according to the city hall's leadership, is in a dilapidated state. A project is expected to be created next year. Only then will it be known how much the work will require and when it might be carried out, said Mayor Vít Rakušan (Change for Kolín) to ČTK. He recalled that court disputes with the restituent, who claimed some land, no longer hinder the reconstruction. "We can work on the project. We want it to be simple, yet appealing and to improve the space in front of the station," stated the mayor. The current form of the station is, according to him, architecturally shattered and does not create a functional whole. "This is an issue that has long caused pain in Kolín," pointed out Rakušan, who believes that the reconstruction should not be pompous, like in České Budějovice, but rather simple and not expensive at all. Given the nearby shopping center Futurum, he would, for instance, consider it unnecessary to build a shopping center in the middle of the station. He would welcome a solution similar to that in Hradec Králové. "The bus station there is simple and functional," he believes. The mayor envisions that the parking lot could be separated from the bus stops by a strip of greenery. "There should also be some facilities for passengers, which means waiting rooms or at least covered areas," he noted. There should also be an electronic board with information about bus departure times. "Currently, there isn't one, and it is constantly being demolished. It is truly undignified and not up to the standards of the 21st century," he added. The Kolín bus station is located in the city center, not far from the train station. It is used by long-distance and regional buses.
