Kladno - Kladno will announce a tender for the contractor for the reconstruction of the theater by the end of the year, which was canceled in October due to alleged manipulation with contracts. The police are investigating several companies, one of which was preparing the tender for the city. As a result, the reconstruction has been postponed several times. The city has received European grants of up to 167 million crowns for repairs. The tender should conclude in the spring, when the start of construction work is also planned. The mayor Dan Jiránek (ODS) said this to reporters today. The new tender will have practically the same parameters as the original, according to Jiránek. The most important criterion will be the construction price. However, a different company will prepare the tender for the city. "If we wanted to change the (tender), it would mean another round of approval and another postponement of two to three months," explained Jiránek. According to him, the tender cannot be changed also due to grant rules. "Every postponement is unnecessary there. We will try to publish it as soon as possible because there are long deadlines during which it must be posted on the official bulletin board," added Jiránek. The city canceled the original tender due to a police investigation of extensive criminal activity that, according to the mayor, concerns about 40 tenders, mainly in South Bohemia. The media reported that the anti-corruption police are dealing with cases in which damages amounted to two billion crowns. In half of them, it reportedly involved money from European grants. Frauds were allegedly facilitated by a special computer program that was supposed to randomly narrow the number of applicants for the contract. According to the police, this was not an accident. The city decided to cancel the tender since it could not proceed with it until the police investigation was completed, for example, by signing a contract with the winning company. The repairs of the theater were originally supposed to start last summer. However, regional officials returned the application for European funding to the city for revision. The reconstruction was therefore postponed to this year, but due to the delayed tender, it had to be postponed again. The start of the reconstruction was also planned by the theater. Actors will perform most of this year's season at the second Kladno stage, Divadlo Lampion. The theater also hosts at other venues. The reconstruction of the municipal theater, directed by architect David Vávra, will include a complete modernization of the building, expansion with a café featuring a multifunctional hall, and an alternative stage. The building will be equipped with modern technology, mainly air conditioning, a building management system, a security system, new engineering network distributions, and especially modern theater technology. The stage and auditorium will undergo a fundamental transformation. The theater should meet today's standards for comfort for both audiences and actors.
