Karlovy Vary - The city of Karlovy Vary will offer the Trocnov sanatorium for sale. A private investor expressed interest in the property in the spa part of the city some time ago. However, the city wants to find out if other potential buyers are also interested in the purchase. This could potentially increase the selling price, said Deputy Mayor Tomáš Trtek to reporters.
"The city has received a request for the possibility of buying the Trocnov hotel, which is owned by the city and has been vacant since April. We will announce the intention to sell, we have prepared an expert opinion that speaks about a minimum price, but frankly, we expect the price to be much higher," Trtek stated. The city does not want to disclose the amount of the appraisal, but it is in the order of tens of millions of crowns.
If more interested parties appear, the city, according to Trtek, wants to organize an auction. However, if the offered price is low, the city will keep the sanatorium.
The Trocnov sanatorium is a hotel with more than twenty rooms and a balneological background. The historical building desperately needs repairs, for example, the balconies are in poor condition.
The city originally intended for Trocnov to serve as accommodation for clients of the city's Alžbětin's baths, which do not have their own accommodation facilities. They provide spa services to clients from nearby hotels or locals. However, they were unsuccessful in their request to be classified among spa facilities.
The plan for sale should be published about a month after the city decides whether to continue with the sale of the sanatorium or wait for more favorable offers.
