Rozhledna Alexandrovka
Brno - Tourists will be able to admire the beauties of South Moravia this year from four new and two renovated lookout towers. There are currently about 25 observation towers in the region. New ones are being built every year. Among this year's additions, the most interesting will likely be the Rumburak Tower near Bítov Castle in the Znojmo region. After a demanding reconstruction, one of the oldest Moravian lookout towers – Alexandrovka in the Moravian Karst – will also be opened. In Lednice, in the Břeclav region, a beautiful 60-meter-high historical observation tower Minaret with a new façade will emerge.
A survey by ČTK indicates that many municipalities in the region are planning to build lookout towers. For example, Kyjov or Mutěnice in the Hodonín region, Olešnice in Blanensko, or Olšany, which is known for the farm of actor Bolek Polívka, are currently trying to secure funding for the construction of towers. Some projects have received funds from the European Union.
Lookout towers are not only created for the development of tourism. They are also significant places where people from the immediate surroundings come together to celebrate various holidays. An example is the tower in Vavřinec near Blansko, where weddings have even been held. There is unprecedented interest in the lookout tower in Hlína near Brno, named after actor Vladimír Menšík.
The largest current investment in lookout towers is 30 million crowns for the renovation of Minaret. This historical tower beautifies the park of the Lednice Castle. This year, its reconstruction will conclude after three years.
The most challenging is the renewal of Alexandrovka towering over Adamov in the Moravian Karst. The tower, built in 1887, has nearly doubled in height over the past few months to its original height of 16 meters.
The Rumburak Tower near Bítov is awaiting certification. It is named after the raven that was named after the wizard from the fairy tale about Arabela. The raven can be viewed in the restaurant adjacent to the tower.
New lookout towers are now being built above the vineyards near Velké Pavlovice and Boleradice in the Břeclav region. In good weather, one can see Vienna and the snow-covered peaks of the Alps from them. By the end of this season, a tower will also be built on the hill Výhon in Židlochovice in the Brno region.
