From tomorrow, the main road will change. The busiest square, I.P. Pavlova, will spontaneously transform into a cultural space. Will it be possible to change the traffic artery and "Ipák" into a new living room of Prague? The whole event arises from the initiative of CCEA and MOBA, which have been trying for several years to ignite debates about the urban transformations of non-functioning parts of the city and prepare fertile ground for all potential transformations. But is there a real chance to transform the traffic corridor into a new urban street?

"We are aiming for a gradual, permanent transformation. The open stage at I.P. Pavlova is a tool for us to communicate the vision of the main road as a quality urban street, where cars, cyclists, and pedestrians coexist, along with trees, benches, shops, and everything that belongs to a street. The public's response will be crucial for further negotiations with politicians. This is, therefore, an act through which we are trying to gain political support from the public.

Another aspect of the project is testing whether a space like I.P. Pavlova - the busiest intersection on the main road in the city center, has the potential to transform into a cultural space. The open stage at I.P. Pavlova is not a festival; it is a spontaneous event from the very beginning. Preparations started two months ago, and through a call, we have managed to gather nearly a hundred participants, and the program currently consists of a total of 48 different activities. People can still sign up for the program.
Everyone is participating without compensation or fees. This also indicates that the topic of the main road is not indifferent to the people of Prague.

We would like to show the city that it is necessary to start testing changes; it is not necessary to create definitive solutions immediately, but to first test a new operation for several weeks, months, and if its qualities are confirmed, then transform it into its final form. This strategy has proven successful, for instance, in New York. If we gain sufficient support from the public and the Open Stage functions, we would use public support for negotiations on the implementation of a bike path on the main road, which is our plan for next year, to finally make a concrete change," explains Yvette Vašourková, the event organizer.
