The main prize of Designblok was awarded to the revived brand Rückl

Prague - The absolute winner of the 19th edition of the domestic design and fashion showcase Designblok was the revived brand Rückl, which presented a new collection of cut glass in a special installation resembling a shooting range. In addition, it also won the prize for the best new product. The organizers informed ČTK about this. The exhibition, which was supposed to continue on Monday at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, was prematurely ended today by a storm. The award ceremony therefore took place provisionally at the Theatre Na Zábradlí.

A total of 12 awards were given. The jury rated the Alba chair by the brand Ton as the best furniture, which also won the award for the best manufacturer's installation. In the category of Best Exhibited Fashion Collection, Zuzana Hartlová with her brand Soolista scored, while the brand Zorya was awarded for the best jewelry collection.

The best designer prototype was chosen to be the Torque collection by Markéta Držmíšková and Petr Háka, while the best designer installation was Spaghetti by the duo Herrmann & Coufal. As a special initiative outside the categories, the jury selected the design of the T3 Coupé tram, which was exhibited by the Prague Public Transit Company. The best home accessories were introduced by the brand LLEV, and from lighting, the most attention was drawn to Yakisugi by the brand Lasvit.

Designblok began at the Industrial Palace on Wednesday. A record 304 designers, brands, studios, and art schools participated. However, today's windstorm damaged the roof of the palace and its left wing, and for safety reasons, the entire Exhibition Grounds were closed.

"According to our information, no one was harmed and everyone, including the production team, is fine. We are trying to minimize the damage to the exhibitions and are prioritizing the clear-out of exhibits where it is directly raining in places where the roof is missing," stated Designblok director Jana Zielinski. According to her, many people were still planning to attend the event. "I recommend visiting, for example, Smetana Q or Mánes, where Designblok is still continuing," she added.
