The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of CTU has announced selection procedures for filling the positions of heads of departments and the Research Center for Industrial Heritage. Applications can be submitted until June 12, 2023.

"I greatly appreciate the work of the two heads of departments, Václav Girsa and Vladimír Sitta, under whose leadership the departments have become respected workplaces of the Faculty of Architecture. I also value the long-term activities of the Research Center for Industrial Heritage, which, under Benjamin Fragner's leadership, is dedicated to the systematic mapping of industrial heritage. These renowned personalities have tied their life paths to our school and have contributed significantly to shaping their fields at FA and in society,” says FA CTU Dean Dalibor Hlaváček.

The new head of the Institute of Heritage Conservation will continue the work of Professor Václav Girsa, under whose leadership the institute became an excellent center for theoretical and practical education in the protection and restoration of monuments, with particular attention to architectural heritage. Significant is the cooperation with other educational and scientific institutions or professional institutions, such as the National Heritage Institute or the Czech National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites. Students from Girsa's studio collaborated with the National Technical Museum on the project "The Last House of Adolf Loos." They prepared the implementation project for the villa for Eva Müller, whose architectural study was developed by Loos in 1932. Currently, the team from the Institute of Heritage Conservation is collaborating on the reconstruction of the cottage of Bohumil Hrabal.

The education of the youngest program at FA has been provided by the Institute of Landscape Architecture since 2015 through six studios. Vladimír Sitta's team endeavors to cultivate students' interest in the environment created by humans, social and societal responsibility, as well as the artistic and technical qualities of projects. For example, the repeated participation of the student team at the international garden festival in Chaumont-sur-Loire was very successful. Students of landscape architecture at FA also regularly score points in the field competition Laurus.

The Research Center for Industrial Heritage has been involved in scientific, educational, and outreach activities in projects focused on the rescue of industrial architecture since 2002. This unique institution, led by Benjamin Fragner, a recipient of the Ministry of Culture Award, maps domestic technical and industrial monuments in terms of history and theory of architecture, heritage conservation, and urbanism. At the same time, it initiates projects for the new use of industrial heritage. Recently, VCPD participated in the preparation of the exhibition "Reactivation," the first event of the Plato gallery in the reconstructed city slaughterhouses in Ostrava. Significant is the publication activity mapping the contexts of industrial architecture or the conversion of industrial buildings. Currently, VCPD is the executor of its third project within the framework of the Ministry of Culture's NAKI program.
