About the festival
The first year of the summer festival EnviroCity was established in 2014 as an initiative by architects and designers from the Collaborative Collective association, who had already realized several projects aimed at revitalizing public spaces in the past. The center of the festival activities was the environmental wooden pavilion Loop, created with students from the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Technical University in Liberec and students from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences, which traveled to various parts of Prague (IPR Prague garden, industrial area of the Žižkov Freight Station). The pavilion provided a space for presentations, discussions, site-specific performances, concerts, and other activities, and due to its design, it also directly participated in moderating the microclimate of urban heat islands in the given location. Co-organizers of the event included the Institute of Planning and Development of the Capital City of Prague and the Landscape Festival.

About the organizer
COLL COLL as a platform for architects and designers was founded by Krištof Hanzlík in 2008, and since then, around 17 architects, designers, and friends have taken part in it. The platform works interdisciplinarily on various projects ranging from designs for porcelain patterns to urban design, reconstruction, family houses, and cultural complexes.
In 2012, Marie Davidová, Krištof Hanzlík, and Martin Gaberle founded the association Collaborative Collective, focused on environmental community projects, science, research, and development in architecture. Under the auspices of the association, several projects have been realized aimed at revitalizing public spaces – pareSITE pavilion for reSITE festival, instantPARK workshop on urban furniture for urbanACT festival, workshop and subsequent design modifications for underpasses in Karlovy Vary, pavilion and signposts for the Live City festival, etc.
The EnviroCity festival, first organized by the association in 2014, was based on the research project of the environmental pavilion Loop, created under the leadership of Marie Davidová, Šimon Prokop, and Martin Kloda as a result of a transdisciplinary workshop at the Faculty of Art and Architecture at TUL and the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences at CZU. Its aim was to familiarize the public with the possibilities of contemporary architecture in relation to working with sustainable materials and their use in public space. The current edition of EnviroCity 2017 is based on close cooperation with the CooLAND association. CooLAND's vision is a diverse landscape pulsating with diverse life.

Marie Davidová
Marie Davidová, together with Krištof Hanzlík, revived the then-defunct COLL COLL in 2011 and is a co-founder and chairwoman of the Collaborative Collective association. She is currently also studying a doctoral program at the Faculty of Architecture at CTU and at the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Technical University in Liberec. She received her master's degree in architecture from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. In Oslo, she also worked as an architect in the offices of Snohetta and Expology. Additionally, she taught at the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts at NTNU in Trondheim and was a guest studio leader at the Architectural Institute in Prague (ARCHIP) and at the Faculty of Art and Architecture at the Technical University in Liberec. Marie founded the design direction Systemic Approach to Architectural Performance (SAAP). SAAP is a fusion of process-oriented directions originally initiated by the integration of Systems Oriented Design and Performance Oriented Architecture. SAAP develops methodology and generates theory through experimental practice. SAAP includes time-based ecosystemic co-design with both abiotic and biotic actors, including humans. Marie leads guest lectures and workshops across Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa, where she also publishes extensively.
