Dvůr Králové nad Labem (Trutnovsko) - In Dvůr Králové nad Labem, a large-scale reconstruction of T.G. Masaryk Square will begin this spring for approximately 80 million crowns. The repairs to the square are expected to be completed by autumn 2011, said Dvůr's mayor Edita Vaňková to ČTK. "Currently, a tender for the construction contractor is underway, and the actual work should begin in April," Vaňková said. The town hall has already made some changes to the traffic system through the square, and it is now possible to enter the square from the post office and the church; the system will change during the repairs. "Partial access to the square will be maintained throughout the reconstruction, but people should pay attention to the traffic signs," the mayor stated. The town hall has managed to obtain a European grant amounting to nearly 75 million crowns for the repairs of the square, including two adjacent roads. The goal of the square's reconstruction, in addition to network repairs, is also to improve facilities for pedestrians; after the repairs, the number of parking spaces will also be limited. The project includes the reconstruction and extension of the long-unused building No. 83, which will subsequently house the elementary art school. In recent years, several towns in the Hradec Králové Region have repaired their squares. For example, last autumn, the repairs of the square in Hronov in the Náchod region were completed, costing 65 million crowns. The Hradec town hall repaired Riegrovo Square in front of the Czech Railways station for more than 100 million crowns. The city also plans to reconstruct the Great Square in the center of Hradec Králové, which could cost approximately 160 million crowns.
