At the end of July, the Domesi Concept House 2 began to be constructed in the village of Budíkov near Humpolec. This is a Futura NEO model house designed by the architectural studio Prodesi, which will be built to passive standard. The building will be constructed using massive wooden panels made from cross-laminated timber (CLT). Domesi Concept House 2 will be available for those who want to experience living in a modern wooden building for themselves. It will welcome its first visitors at the turn of the year.
“The house model, where people can try out living in a wooden building, has proven successful with the first Domesi Concept House we built four years ago in the Liberec region. The strong interest in this project has reinforced our idea to build a second Domesi Concept House,” says architect Pavel Horák from the Prodesi studio.
Thanks to its construction solution, Domesi Concept House 2 consumes less than 15kWh/m2/year of heat and thus qualifies as a passive house.
When constructing a passive house, one of the key points is the appropriate placement of the building with respect to the cardinal directions. Our house is oriented with its main glazed wall to the south with a tilt to the southeast. This orientation allows for the installation of photovoltaics. The house will be equipped with wooden Euro windows with triple glazing with Ug = 0.5, which will be complemented by external shutters that prevent heat intrusion and overheating of the interior during the summer months. Hot water preparation will take place in a storing tank located in the recuperative unit with a heat pump. The air in the house will be heated through recuperation as part of the heat pump. Electric underfloor heating will be used for heating the house on the first floor, while heating radiators will be in the second floor. Another source of heat will be a wood-burning stove.
“We enjoy designing not just houses, but also their interiors,” says Pavel Horák, adding: “We prefer simple clean lines and quality materials that highlight the natural beauty of wood. This is also why we have approached traditional Czech manufacturers with whom we have been collaborating for some time.”
To make incoming guests feel at home, Domesi Concept House 2 will be fully furnished with furniture from traditional Czech companies with which the architects collaborate. The bedroom will be furnished with the Mamma collection from Jitona. In the kitchen with dining area, the dining table and chairs from TON will dominate. Lighting will come from the renowned domestic manufacturer Brokis. Custom carpentry elements will be commissioned from skilled local carpenters.
