Prague - The Czech Technical University (CTU) will begin the construction of a new faculty of architecture building at the end of April, which will require an investment of over 1.2 billion crowns. The building will rise in the university campus in Prague's Dejvice. The weekly Euro reports this in its Tuesday edition.
"We expect the new building to be completed in October 2010," said the CTU Vice-Rector for Construction and Investment Activities Miloslav Pavlík, who stated that the facility is designed for 1,800 students and will have 345 parking spaces. "The total costs are 1.225 billion crowns, of which 990 million comes from grants and the remaining portion comes from CTU's own resources," he added.
The general contractor, based on a competition to which six entities applied, became Metrostav Praha in association with VCES. The general designer is VPÚ Deco Praha. "For CTU, this is the largest construction project since 1985. The last similarly large investment project at our alma mater was the construction of the Student House, which began 25 years ago," noted Pavlík.
Euro reminds that the investment activity in this part of Prague does not end with the construction of the new CTU building. A cyber center for 1.598 billion crowns is also expected to be developed here.
