Chrudim - The demolition of the old boiler house with a chimney marked the beginning of the first stage of the revitalization of the site by the Chrudim textile company Evona, whose oldest buildings date back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the first phase, a quality study must be created on how to proceed with the site. This was stated by the company's owner, Lubomír Motyčka.
"We know that the site is not an ornament in Chrudim, and we are looking for ways to revive it. We will proceed in cooperation with the city and the companies that are located on the site," said Motyčka.
The textile company has new, more modern heating sources that will save costs. Therefore, after obtaining permission, it demolished the unused old building. The construction company has already completed the demolition and is now crushing the rubble and gradually transporting it away.
Motyčka points out that the site is not only the property of Evona. Complicated ownership relationships exist there, and there are contractual agreements and easements. Therefore, revitalization will be more complicated.
"Many people do not even realize that the site is not only Evona. We are working on some vision of how the site could be revitalized," said Motyčka.
After years of operating at a loss, Evona reported a profit in the millions of crowns for the third year in a row last year. Last year's revenues were approximately 105 million crowns, which is about ten percent higher than the year before last. The textile company produces hosiery, leggings, underwear, and thermal underwear. Recently, the company has been increasing the production of functional underwear, while the production of hosiery is stagnating.
