Chrudim – The Chrudim Town Hall has had the functionalist bus stop at Podhůra repaired. Its author is the prominent Chrudim architect and builder Cyril Luhan from the First Republic era. The National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) proposed to declare it a cultural monument, and the Ministry of Culture has not yet made a decision.

"The repairs were fully paid for by the Malý Family Foundation," said Aleš Nunvář (Pirates), a released councilor, to ČTK. The foundation focuses on supporting projects in the areas of nature conservation, cultural heritage, disadvantaged individuals and groups, as well as culture and the arts. They contributed 315,824 crowns to the restoration of the stop.

According to preservationists, the open, subtly designed shelter is one of the last preserved functionalist stops in the Pardubice Region. It was built as part of the so-called "Action Z" based on Luhan's design sometime before 1961, when local public transport was introduced in Chrudim on February 1, 1960, enabling connections from remote neighborhoods to the city center. According to the NPÚ, this purely utilitarian building at the crossroads has a chance to continue serving after the renovation while also being a reminder of the glorious era of architecture. "The interesting aspects are the rounded design of the back wall and the combination of structures and materials: brick back, steel columns, thin concrete ceiling slab, stone floor," stated the NPÚ.

According to Petra Hrušová from the press department of the Ministry of Culture, the ministry has received the proposal to declare the bus stop a cultural monument, but the proceedings have not yet been initiated. In contrast, the proposal submitted at the same time to declare the City Park in Chrudim a cultural monument has been accepted by the ministry, and the decision became legally binding on June 27 of last year. According to preservationists, it is an authentically preserved work of landscape art, which was significantly modified by leading Czech landscape architect František Thomayer and is a testament to one of the first urban parks in Eastern Bohemia.
