Chropyně - Chropyně in Kroměříž district will demolish the town hall and hopes to start the construction of a new one next year. The estimated costs are 22 million crowns, and the city could receive 30 percent from the State Environmental Fund. "This year we would like to prepare the project and secure the demolition order and building permit," said Mayor Věra Sigmundová (ČSSD) to ČTK.

"We anticipate that construction work would commence sometime in the middle of next year, and the new town hall should open in 2019," Sigmundová stated. The city wants to build the town hall due to future energy savings in a so-called passive standard. The building will include not only the offices of the municipality but also an information center and public restrooms. The new town hall will be barrier-free, and an elevator is planned.

The original town hall was built around 1800 and was supplemented with extensions between the wars. The building is in unsatisfactory condition, with leaks in the roof and moisture rising from the basement to the first floor. The electrical installations are also in poor condition. Additionally, the building is not barrier-free, making it difficult for disabled and elderly people to navigate the steep stairs.

The city considered renovating the building and constructing an extension with an elevator. However, these options would not address all the needs of the municipality. According to Sigmundová, the new construction will be designed to be as comfortable as possible for both residents and visitors.

Two other local governments in the Zlín Region are facing the same problem as Chropyně. Ostrožská Nová Ves in Uherské Hradiště is building a new town hall and library for 63 million crowns. The project also includes the renovation of a former cinema building from 1970. Morkovice-Slížany in Kroměříž district is also preparing to build a new town hall. The old one has already been demolished, and according to the project, the cost of the new town hall will be 40 million crowns.
