The presentation of the finalists and the awarding of the winners of the jubilee year of the Za starou Prahu Club Award for new construction in a historic setting will take place on May 13, 2024, at 7 PM at the Mlýnská café (Všehrdova 449, Malá Strana). The establishment of the Award was prompted by the Home Council's dissatisfaction with the quality of new constructions in the historic center of Prague in the decades following the November Revolution. We shared back then and still share the opinion that if a new building is to appear in a monumentally valuable area, it cannot be at the expense of the existing values of the monument reserve. A new construction must not harm its environment; on the contrary, it must enrich it.
