The Klub Za starou Prahu will award the prizes for the most valuable new buildings in historical settings for the years 2019 and 2020 on the evening of October 4, 2021, at the Mlýnská café on Prague's Kampa. The Klub was compelled to announce the finalists and winners of both years in one evening due to the coronavirus epidemic. The 2019 edition surprises with the relatively rich participation of three finalists from Prague. In the last ten years, buildings from the capital city have almost not appeared in the Klub's competition. Among the eight buildings that advanced to the final, the jury was most captivated by the residential building on Vlastislavova street in Prague by the Projektil studio, the residential complex Corso Pod lipami in Řevnice by Lukáš Ehl, Tomáš Koumar, and Alena Šrámková, and the glass house of the Lasvit company in Nový Bor, whose authors Jiří Opočenský and Štěpán Valouch became the winners of the 2019 edition. Among the nine finalists of the 2020 edition, two buildings from Benešov appeared. They stood out as buildings constructed for the needs of civic communities. The jury's greatest interest was captured by the multifunctional building with a large bookstore on Vnoučkova street in Benešov from the team of Markéta Cajthamlová, the municipal hall in Modřice from the Bod architekti studio, and the fire station in Líbeznice by architects Ehl and Koumar, who had already well-placed in the 2019 edition. The jury appreciated the diversity of architectural means and styles that all finalists employ to sensitively integrate new buildings into historical environments, ranging from purely modern expressions to noble traditionalism.
