Former masseuse Jana Bohuňovská (ODS) has been the deputy mayor for social and cultural affairs since 2010. She obtained her Ing. degree from Rašín University in Brno.
Brno - Brno will select a Holocaust memorial from 51 proposals that have been displayed in the mayor's salons at the Old Town Hall from Wednesday until October 10. The winner will be chosen by an expert jury on October 17, and if the city council approves funding for its creation and placement, it should stand in 28. října Square as early as next year. This was stated by the mayor's deputy Jana Bohuňovská (ODS) at today's press conference. The estimated value of the competition is 3.9 million crowns.

Visitors have the opportunity to see the proposals from Monday to Saturday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM and express their opinions in a survey. "The jury has already partially decided at the meeting on September 17, but we cannot yet disclose the results because a meeting with the creators will take place on September 27," said Bohuňovská.
The city requested proposals in the competition that clearly express the symbolism of the events of World War II, during which hundreds of thousands of Jews and also Romani people perished in concentration camps and transports. "The memorial should be designed and placed so that memorial acts can be held nearby," added Bohuňovská.
The public competition in Brno took place two years ago, but the city council did not approve any proposal. "This time, if the council approves it and allocates funds from the budget, the memorial should already stand in the square next year," said Bohuňovská. The winning proposal will receive a reward of 210,000 crowns.
