Brno - Brno will build a house with care service in the district of Slatina for 30 million crowns. It will be on Bedřichovická Street and will offer 15 apartments, said the mayor's deputy Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) to reporters today. About 20 seniors will find accommodation in the home. Construction could start in the spring of next year, and the work will take about a year.
The home will be built on the site of a former apartment building, which the city demolished last autumn due to its poor technical condition. Today, the city council selected the company that will develop the project documentation for the future building. "If everything goes according to plan, we should have the project documentation this year and announce a tender for the contractor in the fall. Next year we can start construction depending on how winter permits," Hladík stated.
According to him, half of the apartments will be one-room and half will be two-room. There will be facilities for the care service on site, a shared kitchen, and a large common relaxation room. "The selection of residents will be the same as anywhere in the city. The housing department of the city will accept applications for placement, which always considers which location is a priority for the senior. We recently approved new rules for point rating of applications. The highest priority is given to seniors with difficult housing situations," Hladík mentioned.
According to him, the city also wants to unify the rental prices in the homes, which currently range from just under 30 to almost 80 crowns per square meter. "In the homes, the demand varies due to the price. We believe that if we unify it, seniors will prefer homes based on location rather than price. The proposed unified price is around 57 crowns per square meter," said Hladík. For an apartment of 30 square meters, one would pay just under 2000 crowns, and for an apartment of 50 square meters, nearly 3000 crowns.
Brno has two dozen senior homes offering about 2000 beds. In addition, there are about fifty houses with care services in Brno, with just under a thousand apartments. However, the city still records hundreds of applications.
