Brno will build a house with a care service for 34 million

Brno - Brno will build a care service house on Křídlovická Street for 34 million crowns. The house will offer 18 apartments and will be completed within one year. There are already 48 care service houses in Brno, but the city has nearly 1000 applicants waiting for this service, the mayor's deputy Oliver Pospíšil (ČSSD) informed reporters today.
    Brno has already selected a contractor for the construction and signed a contract with them, which will still be approved by the city council in April. Construction will then commence. "It will be completed in 340 days," Pospíšil stated.
    The building will have four floors and, in addition to administrative and social spaces for care services, will offer 18 apartments. The cost of 34.1 million crowns will be covered by the city from its own budget.
    In the 48 care service houses in Brno, there are 894 apartments. "However, we are still recording interest. We have about 900 applicants for this service. The population is aging and housing for seniors is currently a complicated issue. That's why I consider the construction of care service houses to be important," said Pospíšil.
    The city has built seven care service houses in the last eight years and is planning further construction. "Every such house that we manage to build from the city budget is a great help for seniors and other citizens who urgently need regular care services and designated housing," said Mayor Roman Onderka (ČSSD).
    An applicant for a care service home must meet certain conditions. "They must be of legal age, and neither they nor their spouse can own an apartment or house in the Czech Republic unless they prove that they cannot use it for serious reasons," said spokesman for the Brno city hall Pavel Žára. Furthermore, a person can apply if the social department of the district recommends it due to their health status or a foreign national residing in the territory of the republic in accordance with legal regulations on the residence of foreigners.
