Brno - Brno is preparing for the renovation of the garden of Arnold's villa next year for 20 million crowns. The mayor's deputy Petr Hladk (KDU-ČSL) stated this in a press release. The villa began reconstruction at the end of last year, costing approximately 150 million crowns. The city wants to have the garden revitalized before the opening of the renovated villa.

The Brno council approved 20 million crowns for the renovation of the garden. "The ceremonial opening of the reconstructed Arnold's villa should take place in a cultivated environment. Based on the completed project documentation for the garden revitalization, we decided to allocate money in the budget," said Hladík. However, according to him, the city will check the possibility of obtaining funds for the garden outside of the budget.

Arnold's villa is adjacent to the Tugendhat and Löw-Beer villas and is the oldest of the three. It was built for the constructor Josef Arnold in the 1860s. The last private owners of the villa perished during World War II. From the 1950s until 2013, the villa served as a kindergarten, after which it was left vacant. During a historical architectural survey, several original elements were found, such as pavements and window fittings.

A subsidy of 38.5 million crowns was obtained for the villa's renovation, bringing the total invested amount to nearly 148 million crowns. All work on the villa must be completed by March 2024, which was a condition for drawing the subsidy.
