Brno - The Brno district of Nový Lískovec is expected to grow by hundreds of residents over the next five years. The city, as the developer, is having the impact of the project for the construction of apartment and family houses assessed for its effect on the environment. Construction is planned north of Petra Křivka Street, according to a document on the EIA Information Portal. Between 2022 and 2024, 17 buildings with 230 apartments and 24 family row houses are expected to be constructed.

The city plans to build in an area that has long been designated for residential development. It concerns former gardens and areas overgrown with neglected and spontaneous vegetation, bordered to the south by Petra Křivka Street, to the east by Koniklecová Street, and to the north by gardens on Travní Street. The apartments will range from small to four-room units, and the buildings will be four to six stories high to fit well into the sloping terrain. The family houses will surround the development from the north and east. There will be enough parking spaces in the buildings, averaging more than one space per apartment.

The Brno leadership is responding to both the shortage of available apartments in the city and their high prices with this construction. The apartments are expected to be cooperative.

Originally, the development was to be carried out in two phases; however, current residents requested that the construction period be maximally shortened to cause them the least inconvenience.

Construction is expected to continue in about ten years toward the west to Chironova Street. A nearly two-hectare park will separate the first and second phases of construction, which will be provided by the city district.

The second phase also includes 24 family row houses in the northernmost part, while there will be 16 apartment buildings with 354 apartments. This should add more than 1000 residents.

All new buildings will have, among other things, green roofs to absorb rainwater, and additional rainwater will be held in a system of retention tanks to prevent it from draining away immediately.

If the first and second phases of construction are completed, Nový Lískovec will grow by more than ten percent; it currently has over 11,000 residents.
