Boží Dar has found a partner for the reconstruction of the Klínovec hotel

Boží Dar - The Boží Dar council today selected a strategic partner for the reconstruction of the Klínovec Mountain Hotel. It will be the Prague hotel Prague Season. The project, worth 415 million crowns, which has a promise of European funding from the Just Transformation program, will likely mean that the city will need to take out a loan of about 50 million CZK for co-financing.

Two candidates applied for the rental of the iconic hotel at the top of Klínovec, Ladislav Mareš from Chomutov and the Prague hotel Prague Season. According to the selection committee, Mareš's offer did not meet the conditions.

Opposition councilors pointed out today that a loan of tens of millions of crowns would long and significantly restrict the city's finances, which have regular revenues of around 30 million crowns. “Either the tenant pays in advance or gradually, and then we will have to take out a loan. How will we ensure the municipality's cash flow?” asked councilor Martina Poštová (independent).

“If necessary, we will provide guarantees. At least for the building of Klínovec. However, we will not need the entire amount immediately, but gradually. And by then, we will already be receiving funds from grants,” countered the mayor of Boží Dar, Jan Horník (STAN). Deputy mayor Jaroslav Formáček (independent) said that a lot will also depend on negotiations with banks regarding the conditions of a potential loan.

Boží Dar is looking for a strategic partner to operate the mountain hotel for a minimum of 25 years after the reconstruction for 3.5 million annually. The city had already reached an agreement with Sokolovská Coal as a partner. The company had preliminarily promised to pay the rent in advance, thus relieving the city of concerns about how to secure funds for co-financing the reconstruction.

However, as Mayor Horník pointed out today, the State Environmental Fund, which manages the Just Transformation program, wants to have a contract between the city and the tenant by December 15.
