Mladá Boleslav - The Klaudián Hospital in Mladá Boleslav is preparing to build three new pavilions. The project, which should be completed within two years, will not significantly increase the number of beds, but it should modernize the hospital substantially, said director Ladislav Řípa to reporters today.

Among other things, an internal pavilion will be built on the hospital grounds, which will mainly include an emergency internal admission and a gynecological and obstetric department. "The internal admission will have a capacity to be prepared to handle mass casualties," noted Řípa. The children's department will then move into the current gynecology space.
Parking will also be newly addressed, with a new six-story parking garage significantly aiding in this matter. It will have a capacity of about 270 spaces, which is double the current state. "It is expected that this should suffice for the entire operation of the hospital," said the director. There will also be a new pharmacy in the parking garage building, a supermarket on the ground floor, and a helipad on the roof.
The last new construction will be a two-story administrative building. The current offices will then house oncology, for which the existing office spaces were originally intended. "It is cheaper to build new offices than to build a new oncology department, for which we already have spaces prepared," noted Řípa. There should be shops on the ground floor of the new building.
The shops in the administrative building and the supermarket in the parking garage should be significant sources of revenue. "We will take a commercial loan for these two projects. The parking garage should generate an annual profit of five million, so we will cover the repayments from that," the director explained.
The seven-story internal pavilion, which will be the most expensive construction, will be financed from a loan that is 85 percent subsidized by the region. "The remaining 15 percent is on the hospital, and I believe we will be able to repay it within 15 years," noted Řípa. The total project costs are expected to reach around 654 million crowns.
The hospital will announce a tender for a construction contractor before the holidays. "We have a condition that we won’t have to pay anything during the construction work. Everything will be paid after the construction," added the director. According to plans, construction is expected to start this October, with completion aimed for 2010.
