Mladá Boleslav - People in Mladá Boleslav are expected to see the opening of an indoor water park in the autumn of next year. However, it will not be a completely new construction as originally planned. The city is preparing to cover the multipurpose pool at the outdoor swimming pool with a special structure and to connect it to another building that will house additional smaller pools and services. According to estimates, it will cost 150 million korunas; a completely new aquacenter would cost 100 million more, Mayor Raduan Nwelati informed reporters today. The area of the swimming pool with the new aquacenter will cover over 4,700 square meters. "We expect that the costs for the indoor aquacenter should reach a maximum of 150 million korunas. We will try to keep it even lower," said the mayor. The construction is planned in such a way that it will not jeopardize the start of the summer season of the outdoor swimming pool, which is planned around May 15. During the summer, it will be possible to complete the interior adjustments, and after the season ends and the outdoor section of the swimming pool closes, the multipurpose pool will be covered, and the operation of the new aquacenter will smoothly begin. Even in the colder part of the year, visitors to the center will be able to swim in the multipurpose pool and enjoy its attractions, including the large waterslide. In the two-story new building directly connected to this pool, there will be additional pools, changing rooms, sanitary facilities, showers, and a wellness center. On the upper floor of the new building, a restaurant and a large terrace are planned. The building will also concentrate all other facilities, storage, and technology. The roof structure will again be removable in the summer months, allowing swimming outdoors. "This solution is economically advantageous. By utilizing existing technologies at the swimming pool, we will save significantly both on the initial investment and on the operation of the center. We will effectively utilize the potential of the swimming pool and better appreciate the investments we have already made into it," noted Nwelati. The complex is being prepared so that it can potentially be expanded in the future with additional pools. Boleslav also wants to negotiate with Povodí Labe about the possibility of expanding the swimming pool area to grassy areas near the Klenice River. Further discussions are also planned with the operator of the swimming pool in the local Sokol hall. The city intends to acquire it in the future, renovate it, and thus create another space in the city primarily for competitive swimming.
