Bohumín (Karvinsko) - Two new multifunctional buildings could be built in the future right in the center of Bohumín in the Karviná region. The city would like to fill the vacant gaps in the pedestrian zone and the adjacent Kostelní street. They are currently seeking investors for construction on municipal land, said Lucie Balcarová, spokesperson for the Bohumín town hall, to ČTK. For the first plot of land, over 1200 square meters on Edvard Beneš Street, where the children's playground is currently located, the city wants to obtain at least about 2.7 million crowns in an auction. For the second approximately equally sized plot on Kostelní Street, the minimum auction price is around two million crowns. "The children's playground, located between two buildings in the central pedestrian zone, is planned to be moved closer to the train station. It will remain on the same street, so parents and children will not lose it," stated Mayor Petr Vícha. He added that the city will insist that any potential constructions have a multifunctional character. The ground floor of the building must be used as non-residential space, while the upper floors are for apartments. The city is currently looking for investors who would take on the completion of the infill. They aim to select them through an auction process planned to be announced in the middle of the year. However, they will not sell the plots immediately. "We will first lease the municipal plot to the investor to ensure that construction really takes place. We will conclude a contract for future purchase and a lease agreement with the investor. Once the new building is completed, we will proceed to the final sale," explained Jana Holeszová from the property department of Bohumín town hall.
