Walter Vetsch

Walter Vetsch has been working as a garden and landscape architect since 1975. In 1984, he became a member of the Swiss Confederation of Landscape Architects BSLA, and 13 years later he joined the Swiss Association of Engineers and Architects SIA. After several years of collaboration with partners Urs Baumgarten, Nils Lüpke, and Jurg Zollinger, they founded the company Vetschpartner in 2008. Today, the studio employs 10-12 people permanently.
The focus of their work is the urban environment. They collaborate with a number of well-known architects such as Foster + Partners, Max Dudler, and others. Their portfolio features very diverse projects, ranging from the restoration of cemeteries, recreational areas, revitalization of former industrial sites, zoos, and administrative complexes to urban spaces around residential complexes, hotel areas, and private gardens. They actively collaborate with a number of architects on public competitions.
The team of architects claims that they strive to treat clients as equal partners who are not afraid to try new things. Landscape architecture in their concept defines the boundaries and transitions of the urbanized world, operating in a ‘fascinating field of tension between landscape and architecture’. In working on projects, they adhere to the ideology that no place is the same, every task is equally challenging, experience is ensured through contact with the land, and curiosity is the driving force.
