At the end of April, thirty years have passed since the completion of the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt am Main, which was created according to the winning design of New York architect Richard Meier, successfully continuing the interwar modernist movement. The trio of white cubic forms compositionally complements the classicist villa of the Metzler banking family while facing the park and the river. In 2013, the museum underwent a renovation, during which later modifications from the 1990s were removed, and visitors can now experience the original Meier concept. On the occasion of celebrating Meier's eightieth birthday, curator Thibaut de Ruyter organized an exhibition titled “Richard Meier. A Style Space”, recalling the sources of inspiration and reference points related to Meier's more than fifty years of work. Among the exhibits, you can see Thonet's chair from the 19th century or postmodern kitchenware by Michael Graves. The exhibited items can be viewed throughout the entire following year until April 26, 2016.
