Brussels - The residents of the Austrian capital Vienna are the most satisfied with cultural institutions in their city, while the least satisfied are the residents of the Maltese capital Valletta. This was revealed by a survey whose results were published today by the statistical office Eurostat. Prague ranks third in the list.

The Austrian capital took the top spot back in 2012. This year, 97% of the surveyed residents of Vienna are satisfied with the cultural offerings of the city. The second place after Vienna went to the Finnish capital Helsinki, where 94% of the inhabitants are satisfied with the cultural offerings.

Prague shares the third place with Stockholm. In the capitals of the Czech Republic and Sweden, 90% of respondents are satisfied with cultural institutions. In contrast, Valletta is the only EU capital where less than half of respondents are satisfied with the cultural offerings.

The survey compared 83 European cities, including those in countries outside the European Union. Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Turkey were also included in the assessment.
