On Wednesday, June 3, 2015, the ninth year of the restored student competition for the Bohuslav Fuchs Prize for the best studio project will take place at the Faculty of Architecture of VUT in Brno. The event is organized by the Student Council of the Faculty of Architecture (SOFA) under the auspices of the faculty deans.
The award is granted twice a year, in the winter and summer semesters. The awarded works are selected by an invited jury composed of three recognized figures from the architectural scene, not associated with FA VUT, and three holders of this award from the previous semester. The jury will consist of Ondřej Císler, Pavla Melková, Michal Palaščák, Martin Bělkovský, Tereza Novotná, and Jan Kubát. The author of this year's graphics is David Zatloukal.
The ceremonial announcement of the awarded works will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at 6:00 PM in the faculty premises. This will be followed by an open discussion about the awarded projects accompanied by live music and refreshments, which will be provided by recent graduates of the bachelor's and master's programs.
The organization SOFA was founded in 2009 by a group of students. It is an independent civic association whose aim is to organize lectures, workshops, student events, and other activities targeted at students of FA VUT. The association is supported by companies Xella, Sonberk, Vizarch, Legia, the Faculty of Architecture VUT in Brno, and the Brno University of Technology; the media partners of the event are the professional magazine ERA21 and archiweb.
