Venice - The upcoming architectural biennale in Venice, which will take place from August to November of the following year, will be headed by the renowned British architect David Chipperfield. This was announced by the leadership of the international exhibition after its meeting on Wednesday. Chipperfield will take over the role of director from Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima, who prepared the previous 12th edition of the Venice biennale.

"We found it useful to reach out to an architect who shows a tremendous interest in architecture as a field and questions the foundations on which it stands," said the representatives of the biennale in their statement on the website.
Fifty-eight-year-old British creator David Chipperfield is one of the most renowned architects of today. He has been running his own studio since 1984 and currently has over 120 employees in several branches. In addition to his native Britain, he designs a lot in Germany, Italy, and the United States. Some of his more recent notable projects include the new building of the Modern Literature Museum in Marbach, a public library in Des Moines in Iowa, USA, and a museum in Changzhou, China.
The Venice Architecture Biennale will take place from August 29 to November 25, 2012. Czech art is traditionally presented in Venice at the Czech-Slovak Pavilion. Czechs and Slovaks alternate at the biennale, with Czech representation last provided by the work of architect Martin Rajniš in 2010.
