From April 19 to May 17, a curated exhibition of wooden architecture will take place at the piazza of the National Theatre, which is part of the Wooden Buildings Salon, a festival and selective showcase of contemporary wooden architecture in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The exhibition also includes an open-access event with an educational purpose, Wooden Architecture Day, which will occur on April 20 at the New Stage building of the National Theatre at Václav Havel Square from 1 PM. In addition to public presentations from selected architectural studios and discussions with architects, it will showcase modern technologies and interesting materials related to wooden buildings.

The adjacent outdoor exhibit of thirty-eight architectural projects in the field of wooden buildings in the Czech Republic and Slovakia will focus on the most current projects. It will also present examples of freshly completed large-scale foreign realizations. The exhibition is conceived as a DIY wooden installation of modest dimensions. Besides showcasing the most interesting wooden buildings over an area of 91 m², it will also enliven public space and offer passersby a relaxing experiential zone.

The author of the installation design is architect Tomáš Bém, who materialized the idea of the genesis of wood in it – the viewer walks through a thirty-meter long corridor of natural raw timber to a five-meter-high pavilion made of CLT wooden system, where one can sit and feel the charm of a wooden interior. The project, which will dominate and fragrance the entire space of Václav Havel Square, aims to introduce the theme of sustainable architecture directly into the center of Prague. It will become a prominent place for meetings and inspiration for a responsible lifestyle.
