The Zumtobel company has acquired an interesting exhibition from the renowned architectural firm Dietrich | Untertrifaller from Vorarlberg for two of its centers. Helmut Dietrich and Much Untertrifaller are among the most successful architects in Vorarlberg of their generation. In the exhibition "Building in Context," this internationally successful architectural firm presents a walk through its works. The exhibition is on display at the Light Forum in Vienna from January 21 to February 18, 2011. After that, the works will move to the Light Center in Prague. Here, the exhibition will last a whole month, from March 16 to April 29, 2011. On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition on January 20 in Vienna and March 15 in Prague, both architects and other personalities from the field of urban development and architecture will speak.
The interplay of light and architecture has long been both a profession and a challenge for the Zumtobel company. Light forums and centers, designed as meeting places for enthusiasts of light and architecture, therefore create an optimal framework for such a highly valued and quality architectural exhibition. “We are pleased to provide our customers and interested parties with an inspiring insight into the architecture of the Dietrich l Untertrifaller office through the exhibition. This architectural firm is considered a pioneer in ecological and energy-efficient building methods. For us, as a company offering progressive and forward-looking lighting solutions, this is, of course, a very interesting topic,” explains Gudrun Schach, head of the Light Forum in Vienna.
Most of the successes in competitions and awards from the federal state of Vienna in October 2010 underscore the skills and creativity of both architects. The Dietrich | Untertrifaller office has a wide and rich repertoire ranging from family homes to extensive revitalizations of old buildings. Their architectural artistry continues to evolve based on new contexts and insights. The architects rely on urban characteristics of projects that sensitively and respectfully integrate into the landscape and surrounding structures.
In this traveling exhibition, the architects present their most important works, which can be divided into five areas: among other things, models from the fields of education, culture, hotels, industry, and family homes are showcased. For example, the Festival House in Bregenz, the City Hall in Vienna, or the harbor in Bregenz. The projects are presented visually, in part through models, and partly through various photographic presentations. Photographs, text panels, and presentations on screens all contribute to the overall concept of the exhibition.
