Jiří Pelcl and his students are exhibiting in Hungary

Part of the Pecs 2010: European Capital of Culture program is an exhibition by designer, architect, and educator at the Prague Academy of Art, Architecture and Design Jiří Pelcl and his students from Studio of Architecture IV.
      The exhibition presents a cross-section of Jiří Pelcl's extensive work. It features his limited series, industrially produced glass and porcelain, as well as interior and architectural realizations. The exhibition also includes projects by the students of Studio of Architecture IV, which Jiří Pelcl leads together with assistant Radim Babák.
      Alongside the creative work of the prominent Czech designer, his educational role is also significant, and its importance is no less substantial. The aim of the exhibition Jiří Pelcl and students is not to confront the works of the educator and his students, but to present the connections of Pelcl's work that extend beyond his own creative production. The educational activity has become an inseparable part of it. The mutual reflection that the exhibition aims to convey is undoubtedly significant for it.
      The exhibition was successfully launched on March 26 and will last until April 25, 2010, at Pécsi Galéria in Hungary. The exhibition Jiří Pelcl and students (Jiří PELCL és a tanitványai) is part of the cultural program Pecs 2010: European Capital of Culture. The opening of the exhibition was also attended by Hungarian Minister of Education and Culture István Hiller and Austrian Minister of Education, Arts and Culture Claudia Schmied. In connection with the exhibition, Jiří Pelcl gave a lecture on contemporary design at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Pecs. A catalog was also published for the exhibition, presenting a series of projects from Studio of Architecture IV and Jiří Pelcl.
