The exhibition project Hamburg in Prague / Contemporary Architecture of Hamburg builds on a trio of exhibitions prepared by the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery in June of this year in the exhibition spaces of this German port metropolis under the title Prag in Hamburg.
Currently, GJF presents to the Prague public several selected works created by prominent architects for Hamburg – including both individual projects and implementations, as well as the unique construction development that began in HafenCity ten years ago.
The project takes place on the occasion of the completion of two decades of partnership between the cities of Hamburg and Prague and presents a total of four exhibitions: two are located in the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery (running until December 5), while interested parties can find the other two in the Kotelna Karlín Gallery (until October 31).

“Ecology.Design.Synergy. - The New Unilever Headquarters in Hamburg”

“The realization that architecture plays an important role in the issue of natural resource conservation has led us to a fundamental conclusion: it is important to create better connections between people and the environments in which they move and live.
If we want our architecture to adapt to societal developments and not be a burden to future generations, we must develop buildings that can be used efficiently and sustainably. This will only happen if architecture aligns with the basic needs of users, while embodying the cultural values of society. Architecture will be defined by its content and less by the superficial image attributed to it.
This approach will pave the way for architecture that has a positive impact on all aspects of construction.
I believe we are at the beginning of a radically new approach to architecture. With each new task, moreover in differing phases of work – design, choice of materials or technical execution, we can continually seek new ways to expand our horizons. We perceive sustainability as an important engine for further development of architecture and a new building culture.”
