We invite you to the opening of the exhibition titled 250,000 Bricks, which will take place on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 5:00 PM in the Gallery mini. The exhibition will be introduced by art historian Zuzana Ragulová. The sounds of Bricks Movements will be heard. The dress code is set to architect individual. Refreshments will be provided.
The exhibition showcases the works of FA VUT students Martin Bártík, Ondřej Bradávka, Jakub Dohnal, Sascha Hanáková, Daniel Chowaniec, Sarah Křištofová, Zuzana Murínová, Adam Schwarze, Markéta Soukalová, Vít Staudinger, and Jan Valdhans under the guidance of Marek Štěpán, focusing on gravitational building with bricks. The showcase of projects, where 250,000 bricks play the main role, presents the possibilities of using the basic building material - brick.
The most universal and commonly used building material is brick. It allows for the construction of walls, pillars, vaults, and domes. Within the studio assignment, designs were created from bricks, legendary brick structures were researched, and new forms were experimented with. What are the architectural, technological, and static limits of brick (5m, 10m, 50m?) and what about its details? By using elements such as wall, opening, and arching, spaces and architecture were created based on their own themes.
