Prague - Today is the last day for interested parties to submit bids in the tender of Czech Railways (ČD) for a new headquarters in Prague for 1,400 employees. ČTK was informed by ČD spokesman Filip Medelský. The deadline has been extended twice by the group. Interested parties can offer existing complexes or the construction of a new building on ČD and other entities' land.

The national carrier will send the three best bids to a narrower selection. According to the original plan, the railways should present the results of the competitive dialogue for approval by the Board of Directors, the Supervisory Board, and the management committee of ČD at the turn of the year. Subsequently, they will announce the results and sign a contract with the winner.

The total gross floor area of the building should be approximately 18,100 square meters, with more than two-thirds of the area designated for offices. The site is also to include a corresponding number of parking spaces.

The headquarters of ČD is currently located in the building of the Ministry of Transport on the waterfront of Ludvik Svoboda, which was built in the 1930s. According to previous statements by ČD General Director Michal Krapinec, the historic building is inadequate. Due to the limited capacity of leased spaces, ČD employees are also housed in other buildings in Prague. One headquarters would save the group tens of millions of crowns annually, according to him.
