The Architects' Association announced at the beginning of June the next edition of the Grand Prix Architects competition - National Award for Architecture 2020. Due to the great interest in extending the deadline for project registration for the competition, the submission deadline has been moved to August 15 at 24:00 hours. By this date, new projects can be registered and existing projects modified.
The Architects' Association thanks everyone who has registered their projects so far and thus confirmed the high quality of this competition, and invites others to join the group of the best Czech architects with their projects.
GPA is a competition with a long tradition, established in 1993. Since then, it has become a prestigious competition, with an international jury composed of founders of leading global architectural offices and domestic architects. Traditionally, there are representatives from the Czech and Slovak architectural scene and three international jurors, who together maintain the quality of this competition at a high level.

In this year's already XXVII. edition of the competition, the registered projects will be evaluated by a jury consisting of:
Christian de Portzamparc - France - Winner of the Pritzker Prize for Architecture in 1994. 2PORTZAMPARC
Peka Salminen - Finland - PES Architects
Fokke Moerel - Netherlands - MVRDV
Tanja Buijs Vitkova - Slovakia - aiscube
Dan Merta - Czech Republic - Jaroslav Fragner Gallery

The best 50 selected projects will be presented as part of the Grand Prix Architecture festival, which will take place on October 6, 2020, at the Faculty of Architecture of the CTU. The announcement of the competition results is scheduled for October 8, 2020.

Main prizes of the GPA competition:
Grand Prix Architects – large blue cube – awarded by the jury;
Lifetime Achievement Award – large red cube – awarded by the Council of the Architects' Association.

The jury may award additional prizes – small blue cubes – in the following categories:
New construction; Reconstruction; Family house; Architectural design and artistic work in architecture.

We continue the tradition of last year with the awarding of prizes for:
Interior – small yellow cube; Urbanism – small purple cube; Landscape architecture and garden design – small green cube.

A new feature is a special cube for eco-friendly construction. During registration, a questionnaire regarding the environmental aspect of the project will be filled out, allowing the submitted work to compete for this new award as well.
