Call for nominations of projects for the Rudolf Eitelberger Award

Dear members of the association Za krásnou Olomouc, its supporters, and other engaged individuals,

We are reaching out to you with an invitation to participate in the third year of the Rudolf Eitelberger Award, which the association Za krásnou Olomouc (hereinafter referred to as the association) is preparing to grant again this year. The aim of this symbolic award is to draw attention to those interventions in the organism of (not only) historical Olomouc that positively and successfully influenced its changing appearance in the years 2011-2012. We are fulfilling one of the goals of the association, which is to promote and inform the public about the architectural and urban changes in Olomouc and for the first time also in the entire Olomouc region, affecting the architectural, heritage, and urban values of the affected locations. The name of the award bears the name of a significant personality, the Olomouc native Rudolf Eitelberger von Edelberg (April 17, 1817 - April 18, 1885), one of the initiators of modern art history and, among others, the founder of the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna (now Österreichisches Museum für angewandte Kunst).

We would be pleased if the discussion and proposal submissions could involve as many interested parties as possible, whether residents of Olomouc or those who care about its fate. We believe that this activity of the association, although symbolic in nature, will nevertheless contribute to deepening the discussion and reflection on the heritage and architectural values of our city. You can send your proposals and other suggestions by May 1, 2013 to the address provided below; additional contacts are also available to you. The suggestions from the members of the association and the broader public will be evaluated by a seven-member committee composed of association members and external experts. The nominated projects will be announced in September 2013.
